Shorter checkout possible for Paypal Website Payments Standard

Your merchants who use Website Payments Standard, can now use the PayPal Instant Update API to support two-way, real-time communication between PayPal and your site.


With this characteristics, merchants can offer customers shipping options, and tax totals directly on the "Review Your Information" page, hosted by PayPal. Combining the info reduces the no. of pages in the checkout flow.


PayPal has also introduce new features that let merchants customize the PayPal pages with gift preferences, a survey question, and an option for customers to receive merchant emails.


As a result, customers get to see final purchasing costs up front, and checkout flows are shortened. A shorter flow can lead to higher conversion rates. Check out the diagram below.

Want to get started? If you already integrated the Instant Update API with Express Checkout, they can configure a few parameters to make it work with Website Payments Standard. Otherwise, a secure server must be set up as part of the integration.
